Bonnie's Story
Well, how the hell has it been so long?? And who are we now??? Have we changed?? Nahh, probably not as much as we had hoped?? I am living in southern California and would love to be back in Colorado!! I will be moving back eventually, but now is NOT the time to sell my house near San Diego.....but California may soon be bankrupt, so I may be returning sooner than I think... OK, here is my story of the last 30 plus years. (See I do not want to admit it is almost 40 years...hmm what does that say?)
Anyway... I spent 15 years in Iowa, but it was too flat, too cold and too humid!! We moved to Idaho in 1995 and I loved it there-- mountains, hiking,and camping all the time!!Unfortunately I only lived there for five years.
I have a daughter 24 years old and a son 20 years old, both in college. My daughter is in an exotic animal training college north of LA, she will complete a degree to work as an animal trainer in zoos or at an animal facility or work with endangered species. My son lives with me (What fun??!!)and attends a local college, he is going to forestry school in a year or so....see Colorado roots run deep!!
My story....hmm... I am still the same, taking a different way through this maze of life...I am divorced as of two years ago after 26 years, so it has been rocky; but I AM VERY HAPPY NOW....I'm still...Expand for more
smiling .....I work in an unusual setting, in the world of non-profit agencies. I am a disaster relief coordinator.....can you tell the job title comes from California?? In the small town where I have lived for 9 years just northeast of San Diego we have had two wildfires that burned over 750 homes; one in 2003 and one in 2007. I am the director of a resource center that helps fire families rebuild their homes. We deal with insurance issues, county issues, construction problems, and mental health issues, etc...I have been a banker and a teacher, but I love what I am doing now!! I moved to California in 2000 from Idaho, again I did not want to move to California and leave those mountains, but life gets in the way of our plans doesn't it? I try to escape to the mountains and beach when I can, but the mountains in SoCal are just dry hills, can not wait to get back to Colorado....Those of you that have managed to stay in Colorado are the smart ones!!?? In my spare time I make jewelry and sell it in LA, I am an amateur silversmith, and really enjoy creating new designs (that sell)--I have to stop making stuff and giving it away!! ...I will be making plans to return to the Springs next summer-- the reunion sounds fun -- would love to catch up with others. I have only stayed in touch with a few friends from Mitchell.
