Jim and Bonnie's Story

Life This last Christmas (2008) I got an infection in my lower spine that put me in a wheelchair, so I'm in the process of learnin' how to walk all over again. Bonnie just got me an Akita pup to train as a service dog. So in about 6 to 8 months I'll have me a furry four legged cane to help with my mobility issues. Plus I can get my face licked anytime I want. How cool is that. Retired from Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in 2004. Now I'm brassbear at hot mail . I now do environmental consulting for Navy contractors. In 2001 I found out that I have MS. I'm still workin' - movin' slower but still verticle. In 2004 MS ate my right eye - went blind and I just couldn't see stayin' any longer with only one eye. Of course after I retired the Dr. pumped me full of drugs and the vision came back - kinda. Bonnie was ready to shoot me cuz I was gittin' under foot around the house - and there were several companys wantin' to hire me - so I been pimpin' myself out to the highest bidder. I tell 'em that all they get is the residule in my ...Expand for more
brain, when I can get the neurons to fire in the right order. Ain't nobody goin' to pay me for how far I can walk or much I can lift, anymore. In 1974 I married Bonnie Pudas and we've raised a couple of good kids - Spencer and Mollie. We ain't had to loan 'em much money and we ain't had to make bail on either one. Can't ask for more than that. Spencer has made us grndparents - twice. When I got out of the Navy in 1970, I got into competetive shooting and ended up getting certified by the NRA as an Instructor and Training Counselor. Over the yers I've worked a lot with the Boy Scouts and other Church and youth groups teaching marksmnship and firearms safety. I attended Olympic College from 1970 to 1973. In 1973 I got hired by Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and worked in the Naval Nuclear Power Program for about 25 yrs and made a carrer change at age 50. Pretty scary. I transfered into the Environmental Dept. Best move I could have ever made. I did oversight of the Hazardous Waste Program and then got into contractor oversight.
