I think people would be surprised to know that I married in June of my junior year at Sparks High School. After my marriage I went to help out at a family mining camp in the Sierra Nv. mountains at about the 7200 ft.level. I lived in a log cabin, cooked on a wood stove, used an outhouse, and showered in a showerhouse where I had to build a fire in the stove to heat the water. I chopped wood, did my laundry using a three-suction pluger and a hand-crank wringer that attached to the kitchen sink. When my daughter was born in 1961 I did her diapers this way then boiled them on top of the wood stove in a large tub. Something I learned from my grandmother, to rinse and get the soap out,and prevent staining and diaper rash. Then I hung them to dry outside on the line.
