Bonnie Lou's Story
Bob & I went together all through high school and we married in 1960. He was in the Navy for 6 1/2 years and we have three sons. He worked for Grumman from 1966 through 1992 when he retired from Grumman.
I worked at Mitchel Air Force Base Hospital after graduation as a medical transcriptionist. When our first son was born in 1961 I quit and stayed at home for the next 10 or so years during which time we had two more sons.
I went back to work in about 1970, first as a typist for a service doing Social Security Benefits reports, then as a receptionist for a Buick dealership in Hempstead. In about 1973 I became a service writer for a Ford dealership in Mineola and continued in that line of work for about 17 years during which time I became assistant manager of the service departme...Expand for more
nt in a Ford dealership in Hicksville. When I turned 50 I decided I could not grow old in that line of work and went back to the medical field where I had started. I worked as a medical transcriptionist at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital until July 2007 when I retired.
Bob in the meantime had been a consultant for a while and then went to work for Stony Brook as a programmer analyst until he retired in 2004.
He took up motorcycle riding in his thirties and we had great fun and enjoyment motorcycling to different places. In time I also got my license and had my own motorcycle. Just this past year I sold my bike as we haven't been riding very much lately. We miss it.
We are in the process of trying to sell our house here in NY and plan to move to Sun City Hilton Head South Carolina.
