Brad's Story
Life
Got out of high school in 87, joined the Army Infantry in 88. Went to Ft. Campbell, Ky 101st Airborne Div. Trained my ass off for everything known to man kind, and was sent to Desert Shield/Desert Storm in 89. Stayed in the middle of the Saudi Desert for 6 months living inside a fox hole. Then moved into Iraq, did our thang there and went home shortly after 7 total months in the Middle East. Wanted to reinlist but the Army decided that I was locked in as an Infantry Soldier and would not let me change my MOS. I wanted to change to 95B, MP. So when they wouldn't let me change I got out. Got into correctional work, both juvenile and adult corrections. Got tired of that and got on as a full time police officer in MS. Did that for almost 5 years then moved back to my home state La. and went to a Sheriff's Office as a full time Deputy. I really enjoyed this job, we worked hard there. I took some time off from there and went to Iraq, (again), this time as a private contractor providing Convoy Escort, and PSD Missions. I have to be honest and say that I act...Expand for more
ually saw more combat with this private security company than I did with the 101st Airborne! Stayed there 6 months total and then came back to the Sheriff's Office. After two months decided that I wanted to go back over seas to make good money, went to Afghanistan and I have been here now for a total of 6 months. I will finish my contract here in Jan. 2008. I might go back tothe Sheriff's Office then, or I might extend for another tour here. I haven't made my mind up yet. I'm still married to my wonderful wife Charlene, and we have two children now. My daughter is named Rebekah and she is about to be 15 years old in July. My son's name is Devin and he will be 3 in June. We live in Denham Springs, La. That's it in a nut shell I guess. We moved around alot when I first got out of the military because I had no idea where I wanted to live or what I wanted to do. Desert Storm kind of kicked my butt and I had some issues resulting from the low level gases we were exposed too. But I'm fine now and only have some short term memory loss. I'm blessed and I know it.
