Brad's Story

Ok. So, after high scholl I joined the Army. Went to Fort Sill, Oklahoma for Basic, then on to Aberdeen Proving ground in Maryland for AIT. Trained as a tracked vehicle mechanic and was stationed with a field artillery unit back in Fort Sill. Pretty un remarkable for a few years (the usual training stuff, wargames and what not). Right at the end of my tour, bam stoploss (which means nobody gets out for the duration). So, April 2003 its off to kuwait for about a month while we wait the to boats to get there with our vehicles, then on to Baghdad and then some ammo bunker complex to post guard and assit in fire missions and roadside checkpoints. Stoploss lifts in July and I return to the States in August, ...Expand for more
barely missing rising insurgency problems. First casualty in my unit not until 13 days after I left. They tried like hell to get me to reup and I firmly said no thanks (dodged a bullet and thats that). Left then service in November 2003 and started school at Fullerton College in January. Went full time for about 4 semesters then lost focus, school slipped away and then worked as a mechanic and assitant manager at a shop in Tustin for 2 1/2 years. Once again lost focus when Mom passed in May '07. Didn't get a chance to recover, as the day after Christmas '07, Dad was gone as well. Cancer... the inevitable. So as of April '08, trying to get back into the swing, starting school up again. What's next...?
