(I've said that before). I will miss our 40th Class reunion in 2012. Down to the final months prior to leaving for the mobilization in Indiana! It's June, trying to enjoy as many days as we can. In the final planning stages of premobilization training for our deployment, a few weeks left. Will be training at Camp Atterbury Indiana, then to Germany for our final training. NOV 12 2011 - Completing mobilization training here at Holenfels Germany, preparing for onward movement to Kosovo to assume NATO mission there.. Great weather here NO SNOW YET! 30 Nov 11 We have finally arrived in Kosovo, ...Expand for more
working with New Mexico Unit, ready to take over soon. Weather is much like Wisc right now! If you don't know what's going on in Kosovo, go to MSNBC, type in Kosovo and todays date, you will be suprised....Another month into our mission, things are going well. A NATO mission is really quite complex dealing with all the politics that go with it! What a great expierence working with our NATO partners, Germany, France, Morocco, Ukraine, Polish, just to name a few. Has really helped in a better understanding of other Nations. Headed into 2012 :) Ok, it's almost April 1 2012 - four months into our mission. Dec-Feb we received 77 inches of snow, we are surrounded by mountains, 2 plows no snowblowers and a 1/2 walk each way to the dinning facility. It's finally melted and warming up makes running a lot easier! All is good looking forward to coming home this fall. As with all my deployments, just make me see how fortunate we are in the United States. Talk with you soon...Brad...June 2012 - The weather has finally changed, it's in the 70's! Still a lot of rain, although no complaints. We are down to around 3 1/2 months until we return home, looking forward to it. The mission has been went well and our relationships continue to grow with our multi-national partners. Home in time for the Fall colors!!!! 3 July 2012 - Down to the last 2 1/2 months before coming back to Milwaukee. Have worked in Serbia, Macedonia, Germany and Kosovo on this deployment. Great visits to Italy, Spain and France while on leave. Amazing and i get paid for doing this. The Army has been good to me and given me opportunity to really see the world. Update to follow as we wind down and prepare for home. AUG19 2012 - Well we are almost there! We have been packing equipment up and sending it home, should be back by the end of September. t's been a long year, have seen so much and visited many Countries during my deployment. Be back just in time for a Wisconsin Fall. Looking foward to seeing Family and Friends again and he start of the football season... Hard to believe next month will be 40 years since I enlisted in the Army, I would never have thought I'd still be wearing the Army uniform 40 years later! 20 days and we will be in Camp Atterbury Indiana, yea!!!!!! Milwaukee we are almost home! 20 September 2012 - Today I celebrate 40 years to the day in the US Army! When Uncle Sam said "I WANT YOU FOR THE US ARMY", I guess I didn't know he wanted me for 40 years :) a couple days left in Kosovo and on my way home, a year without a cold beer and fish fry! can't wait... YEA!!!! Finally made it home :) It was a long 13 months but glad to be back. Had my first beer in a year, didn't take much, seeing I lost 50 pounds running since I left. Cut the grass and watched some football, geesh good to be back....On leave until the 14th of November time to enjoy life a little... Home at last! Enjoying some time off! Great news, I have been selected as the next Wisconsin Army National Guard State Command Sergeant Major - will be working out of Joint Force Headquarters in Madison starting in January, senior enlisted advisor for the Wis Army National Guard. A honor to continue to serve! Should take me to 43 years of service at the end of this tour!!! amazing
