Bradford's Story

Life Born: Des Moines, Iowa Graduated from College: May 1991 from Iowa State BS in Chemistry Lived in San Diego three years, next lived in Bremerton, WA, for two years. Lived and worked in Portsmouth, England. Got the opportunity to serve as naval ambassador of the United States for numerous NATO and former Eastern Bloc nations for three years. Back to Bremerton, WA, to work as an engineer on submarines and carriers from 2000-2003. Attended Naval Postgraduate School, in Monterey, California from 2003 to 2005 to earn Masters degree in Electrical Engineering (Microelectronics and Power Systems track) awarded September 2005. Loved going back to school again and discovering that you can learn if you read the book, do the homework and schmooze the professors (who knew?) Promoted again to Commander in August 2006. Was assigned to Commander Naval Air Forces - Atlantic Fleet. I was the Force Modernization Officer for the US Navy Aircraft Carrier Fleet (all 11 ships). I also coordinated the decommissioning and inactivation efforts for the USS John F Kennedy (CV-67) after thirty eight years of distinguished naval service. Just was selected by the Navy to be the next Chief Engineer on USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). Back to Bremerton (9th move in 17 years!) Hobbies include: reading, travel, cooking, golf, and gardening. Military Commisioned as Ensign USN in 1991 from NROTC Iowa State Lived in San Diego three years, Assigned as Electrical Officer on USS DULUTH (LPD-6). Next Stationed in Bremerton, WA, as Fire Control Officer on USS CALIFORNIA (CGN-36). On exchange with the Royal Navy Jan 1997 to Nov 1999, lived in Portsmouth, England. Got the opportunity to serve as naval ambassador of the United States for numerous NATO and former Eastern Bloc nations. Highlight was hunting for mines in Tallinn, Estonia, harbor! Qualified Engineering Duty Officer at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard Jan 2000 to March 2003. Project Officer on nuclear submarine maintenance availabilities. Attended Naval Postgraduate School, in Monterey, California from March 2003 to September 2006. Masters degree in Electrical Engineering awarded September 2005.
