Sheryl's Story
I went to Provo High School the last half of my Junior year (1970) and all of my Senior year (1970-71). I was very active in music and drama. I was in many of the drama department's plays and musicals. After graduating from Provo High I attended BYU for a semester. During that semester I sang with the musical performing group The Sounds of Freedom and I toured the northwest with them. Then I traveled with the USO on two tours. My first tour was in late spring 1972 to Vietnam during the war to sing for the servicemen and women. Near the end of the year I toured eight European countries for six weeks singing to the servicemen and women there. I traveled and sang in Israel as well, but not with the USO. Following my travels I recorded several vocals on the album "Like Unto Us" which was put out by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for their seminary and institute program. I married Mark Nixon in 1974 and we have six wonderful childr...Expand for more
en and sixteen grandchildren. Mark received his PhD in Accounting From Texas A & M University and we moved to Northborough, Massachusetts where we still live. In 1995 four of our six children were in a terrible car accident coming home from a church youth meeting (Mutual). Two of our sons were paralyzed and became quadriplegics. The Prophet and President of the Church at the time was Gordon B Hinckley. He blessed both of our sons in the hospital. I have just published a book, IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE - The Reed And Rob Nixon Story, telling about the past sixteen and a half years of our lives. It is a very positive and uplifting book about choosing to be happy in the midst of life's trials. I have a website and blog, sherylnixon.com which tells about our family and my book.
