Braxton's Story

Life LIFE hmmmm where to begin... I have two children by my first marriage, a son John-Braxton III, and a daughter Cybil Abigail. My son is 27 and my daughter is 26...14 months difference in age. My daughter is a night student at Wingate University majoring in business. She is a live-in nanny for a family near Monroe NC. She hopes to land a job with a major company next June upon graduation. She was a pharmacy assistant in Florence and was and is considering going to Pharmacy school also. My son is an Associate Youth Minister at Barnwell First Baptist. He is also a musician. He plays guitar and keyboards and is the lead singer in a band called Anacey out of Greenville SC. If you would like to hear them you can go to myspace.com/anacey777. They have an independent CD out as their original band name Too Late May and a six song EP out as Anacey. They just finished recording a one song demo at Pendlewood Studios in Atlanta. My wife and I live in Summerville SC. We have three children of our own... Bailey, Tip and Harley, all Golden Retrievers. Bailey is 11, Tip is 3 and Harley is 5. This makes a total of six goldens that gave and give us fun and ...well you know what I mean. Ann Marie works in Myrtle Beach during the week and stays at a small golf villa there and I stay in Summerville. She comes in on Friday and leaves Monday morning. That pretty much sums up life. I am a pretty quiet, calm, boring person. It is funny how the late fifties have a way of doing that. I call my wife every morning at 6 so she knows I did not wake up dead. Would hate to die and not be found for a couple of days. Dogs would be pretty hungry I would hope...just a joke! Hobbies include woodworking, scale auto model building(buying kits mostly, no time to build them) birding, and apparently repairing houses for family. I am much better a destruction than construction but I do okay. School Going to three different high schools was not as...Expand for more
much fun as it sounds like it should be. I guess being the new guy was okay but it also got you into trouble. The girls boy friends always were ready to kick your rear if you were too friendly. The girls would shy away from you because of this too. Hartsville High was all the childhood friends, the teams, rivalries, first dates, first kisses (thanks JS), ballroom dancing at the armory, Ruth's Drive In, learning to drive, racing on Golf Course road, swimming in the lake, and the aromas of Hartsville. Most important was first love (thanks SAM). Then came Lumberton High. Went in at mid-year and was the "new" kid from SC...had a hard time with Carolina up there. The old USC UNC thing. But that aside it was okay...got elected to a class office, played football, and went to Boy's State at Wake Forest. Had one great water fight up there which involved about sixty people. Moved to Florence over Labor Day weekend and started at McClenaghan High on Tuesday...new kid again. Met Abby Taylor first thing in home room and we have been friends ever since. Had a lot of fun Senior year. Learned a lot but sometimes not enough. Also met beer and shaggin' and parties almost every weekend. The one thing I thought was rather funny was when I lived in Hartsville we were afraid to go to Florence because the Florence boys would beat you up if they caughtyou. Now I live in Florence and the Florence boys won't go to Hartsville because they do not want to get beat up. I had free passage having lived in both towns and they all knew me. Went to USC-F and the f must have stood for failing because I did a good job of that. Cut most all my classes to the max. Made it thru half of second semester and quit. Uncle Sam called shortly after and I joined the Navy(to be covered under military). After service came back to Florence and graduated from Francis Marion COLLEGE with a degree in Sociology...haven't used it yet. And that just about sums up school.
