Brenda's Story
Well, here's my story. After I graduated from SDSS in 1981 I attended UBC and gratuated from there in 1987 with a Bachelors of Education. I decided I didn't want to teach afterall, and there were not very many jobs for teachers at that time unless you want to move to another place in BC, or China, and I didn't want to do either of those so I went in to banking, and got a job at the Royal Bank as a loans officer. They put me on the loans officer training program, which took 8 months, and then I got my first posting at the main brach in Langley. So at that time I moved out for the first time, to an apartment in White Rock, and I am stil here.
Everytime I got a promotion at the bank they would transfer you so I went from Langely to Cloverdale, then back to White Rock. At tihs time I was nearing 30 and decided I needed to do something important on my 30th birthday and so I bought a condo, not far from the branch I was working at so I could walk to work. I worked there in that position, which was Executive Account Manager for 4 years, and during that time I met the man that I would later marry.
John (my husband) is a commercial fisherman, so they are gone a lot, which I didn't think would bother me because I had my job and a social life with my friends,...Expand for more
and kept realy busy, so no problems right??? (wrong). more to come later....
We were together for 11 years, and married for 7 of those years. We got divorced in 2007. I left the Royal Bank and now work at Safeway in White Rock. I have bought a 2 bedroom condo from the proceeds of the home I had with my ex-husband. I have a kitty named Keisha and she will be 2 in April, never had kids, my ex-husband had 2 kids, so I helped raise them while we were married. We are still friends to this day, which is a nice way to end a marriage. Single now, and trying to find my place in life, what I want for me etc. Not easy at 46, but there are a lot of people whose marriages don't work, so I am thinking there should be a lot of divorced men out there. Just have to find the right one this time around. My parents live close by and my brother is married and just had their third boy, so I am an Auntie to a 4 year old and 2 year old and a new born. They live in North Vancouver, so don't get to see them as often as I would like. Life is pretty quiet these days. Hoping to do some travelling and find a better job. Been at Safeway for almost 3 years and getting kind of bored of it, but with the economy the way it is, I am just grateful to have a job, and own my own home!!
