Brenda's Story
It's been a long time since high school and there's volumes to tell however, I'll spare you the gory details. I finally finished my Biology degree at NAU and I'm a Fish and Wildlife Biologist. Amphibians are my area of interest, but I've worked with fish, birds and habitat as well. I spent sometime working with the Arizona Game and Fish Dept. as well as, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Currently my full time job is "Domestic Engineer" and part time I do administrative work the local Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. I waited to start a family until a point when many of you probably already had teenagers and maybe a few of you were grandparents. I was 40 when I had my daughter (Emma) and I'm a full time mom. After living in the deserts (Tucson & Phoenix) and mountians (Flagstaff, Globe, Pinetop) of Arizona for over 30 years, life brought me back to the midwest about 3 years ago. I don't know if anyone will remember but I started FW in 6th grade after moving to Tucson from SW Michigan, so it was really like coming back home to a culture and way of life much like my childhood when we moved to Ashland, WI. You can't get to much farther north and still be in the US ...Expand for more
and we live in a comfortable 90+ year old Craftsman style home. Think Prarie or Mission style early Frank Lloyd Wright.
I'm married to a Fisheries Biologist who is the Station Supervisor for local US Fish and Wildlife Service Conservation Office. Yes, we met through work. My daughter is still in preschool and I spend way to much time doing dishes, laundry, arranging playdates and trying to outsmart someone who hasn't been on this earth all that long. I love being a mom and only regret having Emma later in life when I end up feeling my age the day after some really intense play.
Of course getting to this part of life was full of lots of trickly situations and I've never been good at taking the easy, straight and narrow path, it seems the hard intricate mistake ridden road was my youthful path of choice, hah. I'm glad I have better glasses now!
I really don't keep up with anyone from high school. However, when I was still working outside our home I used to run into Phil Harris at the occassional American Fisheries Society meeting. He about fell over the first time I said hi.
For any and all who read this I hope life has treated you well and you are in a good place.
