Brenda's Story
I am a Certified Nurse Midwife in the the US Army currently stationed on Fort Belvoir, VA outside Washington DC. I have completed 21 years in the Army and recently got promoted so am now planning to move to Italy next month for another 3 year assignement. I am happily re-married with 2 daughters and 3 step daughters.
After HS and 1.5 years at McCook Community College I went to Kearney State College and got by BSN in Nursing. I married Richard Ball and we returned to McCook where I worked at the Community Hospital for a year. Wanting to travel and see the world I joined the Army and was commissioned as an officer and moved to Fort Bliss Texas in El Paso. From there we went to San Antonio and then Germany. rmy to get my Master's Degree and we went back to El Paso where I attended the University of Texas El Paso and got my MSN in Nursing as a Nurse Midwife. After finishing graduate school we went to Hawaii where I worked at Tripler Army Medical Center. Along the way Richard and I had two daughters, Elsa born in Germany in 1992 and Raegan born in Hawaii in 1996. I left Richard in 1999 when we moved from Hawaii, he went to Nebraska and I took the girls to my next duty station in Georgia. I married Doug Houston in 2000. In 2001 we moved back to Texas, this time Fort Hood. In 2004 we moved again to Fort Belvoir VA where we hoped to remain until Elsa finished HS in 2010 but have decided to spend one more tour in Europe. If you want to come visit Europe... look us up.
