Brenda's Story
My husband and I live in Independence, MO. I only had 1 child of my own and my husband has 6 from his previous marriage. Together we have 13 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
I retired from the old AT&T November 22, 1998 (1 month and 4 days, after I turned 48), with 30+ years of service accumulated from Muskogee, Tulsa and Kansas City, MO.
I then did volunteer work for Kansas City Hospice, after my oldest brother, (Denny), and my best friend (Ruth Kelly, the one that worked for EMS) passed away within 3 days of each other in January of 1999. It was my way of giving back to my community what they received from their's.

t time, I stopped the volunteering work to take care of him. We only had him for the 5 months until school was out, then he went back home to be with his parents and I started my part-time job as a billing clerk for the same trucking firm my husband was working for at the time. I quit 3 months later to go to Hawaii. Came back from vacation, new job was offered, worked for that company for a little over a year, quit and have been enjoying retirement ever since.
Now that my husband is also retired, we enjoy our time traveling, and with our families. We are going back to the BIG island of Hawaii for our 15th anniversary. I love Hawaii, but, I also love Mexico. We would like to go to Germany & Ireland someday.
