Brenda (Wood)'s Story
Life
I have traveled across the USA a few times since graduation. By bus or plane. I was in the Air National Guard as a Personnel Specialist for a short time.
I was married for 17 years. We adopted two children. One boy and one girl.
For 10 years now the kids and I have been making it on our own. Was laid off in 2003. Finally got a job as a customer service rep. for GMAC. I really enjoy it. Lost the job 2008 thanks to outsourcing to two other countries. Just finally found another job. Another new career.
Just became a grandma for the first time April 2008. She is a cutie just like my daughter was when we adopted her.
I have been working as a in home caregiver since 2010.
School
It is funny when you get to show your kids around the school they will be going into because you went there also. I worked in the Attendance office two periods per year in High School. e my original signed one back to me.
At Hamlin Jr. High when my daughter started there the principle at the time, I went to high school with at Springfield, and one of the teacher's husband I went to school with in Arizona. Small world.
I have ran into very few friends I had in high school.
Workplaces
Lets see since leaving high school I have worked in 2 stores, 2 hotels, 2 restaurants, 1 research company, and GMAC call center and now giving in
home care to seniors that would like to stay home.
Military
I felt proud to be in the Air National Guard. Taps would put me into tears.
At times I ask myself why didn't I go regular Air Force.
I need to thank Linda Prise for not putting in the logbook I came in late one night in basic training. I would have had to redo 6 weeks I just finished. And we were on our last week.
And to thank Glen Stone for getting me away from Biloxi for a weekend. Sorry I slept all weekend. Your mom was right. To much stress on base. I missed getting to see New Orleans sites for sure. But the dinner was great.
