Brett's Story
Wow... it's been a long time since I even looked at this website!
Well - the long and short if it, is that I have been living in Europe now for over 6 years. I moved to Germany in March 2009, and have been back-and-forth between there and the United Kingdom since.
I am an analyst with the Department of Defense, working with the Army - once Army, always Army I guess (I served in the Army from 1998-2006)... I have been an analyst with them now for wow, almost 10 years after my separation from the service.
Going back a bit - I got my Bachelor's Degree (in Math Sciences) before that in 1995 from Oregon State - having changed my degree program twice! - and a few years later heard Uncle Sam's call.
Married 1999... divorced 2004... kept myself a "free agent" mostly since then. Passionate about world travel and international cultures... thus the move to Europe, but also the move to finally get back to school and upgrade my degree! I have started a Masters Degree in International Relations - hope to have completed that in 2016, and at that time will probably move into a diplomatic career some...Expand for more
how, or perhaps as an international liaison for Americans coming to work in Europe.
Hobbies these days? Well, travel first and foremost - defines a lot about me now, from movies to books to dating... Studied Aikido for 2 years in Washington DC when I lived there, and hope to get back into that someday soon over here (when I can find someone who teaches it in English - wink!)... love cinema, hosting social events (did a lot of that for international social network groups like MeetUp and Internations. Not sure if you all recall - probably do - I was painfully shy back in High School and didn't go out for much (I should have)... so I sought out as much of that kind of thing as I could in college (Air Force ROTC and Fraternity membership (Phi Kappa Psi)), the Army, and now life abroad. Now - I cannot fathom how I was ever like that! Times change I guess.
Hope everyone is well and living the lives they hoped they would by now, back in 1989... if you feel like it, get in touch. I might even finally show up for a reunion sometime or another (maybe the 30th in 2019!)... Ciao!
