Brian's Story

Life Not much to tell--I dropped out of college in 1978. I made the mistake of taking a year off and then tried to restart from there. If I had listened to Dad and gone to Chapman College, I'd probably still be in California. Mistake? Only God Knows that answer for now. Crushed my right hand in 1983 at work, after a fight with my girlfriend the night before--careless and tired at the time. Was told I'd never play clarinet again-I now play for special church productions.Travelled by motorcycle across country with ex-best friend Ralph and got married in Illinois, Dec. '83-Daughter, Jennifer born Aug of '84-Divorced in Spring of '85- Moved back to Tennessee in '85-couldn't find work so I joined Navy Reserve-then one popped up. Became an electrician like my Dad-the one thing I said I'd never do. Started dating again in '88-remarried in April '89. Called up to Active Duty status Dec.'90 for OP Desert Shield and was volunteered to stay thru Desert Storm-got back the day after my anniversary in April '91. Jordan is 15 now, Nicky is 13 and Breeana is 9--'nuff said 'bout the kids, except they're the typically un-typical, hyper, non-understanding,"why can't we do this or that" kind of kids we used to be. Got out of the construction trade 8 years ago and became a maintenance mechanic for UPS ...Expand for more
here in Knoxville, TN. I live in Powell-4.5 miles from work and spend an average of 12 minutes commuting each way. Most of the traffic jams lay to the West. I always carry a flashlight at work and when people ask me "what are you looking for?", I casually look at them and reply,"RETIREMENT."--12 years left on this one. I met my wife while working on a construction job at a hospital in Oak Ridge, TN. I asked her for a date and she hasn't gotten rid of me yet! She has since changed jobs and moved to part time after my pay advanced past my former level. She keeps me in DIY projects, when anything needs fixing here.We have a modest basement rancher on .45 acres and live a half mile from the elementary school my youngest attend and the church we attend. July 26th, My daughter, Jennifer made me the proud grandfather of a 9 lb. 4 oz. boy named Tyler James Bardill. I made the 8 hour drive into northern Ohio for Jenn's Birthday and to see my grandson up close. My only fear is that he'll become a football hero for Ohio State instead of the University of Tennessee. Well, thanks for listenin'. I'm goin' back to my Sassafras Tea and play with the dog and kids. Take care and look us up some time. We always have time for company as long as they can put up with our young'ns. See Ya!

Me, my Dad before me, and his Dad before. Now both of my sons. And they are Dads, too.

Checked my Naughty and Nice list. Got a late start on the beard due to hot weather. Still looking for my suit.
