Brian's Story
Life
I attended SEMO for my basic engineering classes and transfered into UMR in 93. Graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering in May 1997. During my undergrad, I co-oped with McDonnell Douglas 3 terms: Design, Manufacturing, and Flight Test in Maryland - all on the F-18 E/F Navy Jet. I stayed at UMR to complete a masters in Engineering Mechanics specializing in Fatigue and Frature. I hired on with Caterpillar in Peoria IL and now work in their Component Fatigue Group at the Technical Center.
While in college I also became involved with the UMR Solar Car team. I helped build and rayce the '97 and '99 cars. We won the '99 rayce! I stay involved by advising the team and help run the rayce known as The American Solar Challenge.
I bought a house in the country in early 2001 near a small town called Lowpoint IL with 12.5 acres. It needs a lot of TLC but keeps me out of trouble. Slowly creating my ultimate wood / machine shop where I can tinker.
Yes I still have the little yellow Bug which I restored during my HS days.
Yep still sitting on my duff watching Stacey Hopes butt go by!

rriost my Junior year. I still have the dummy gernade.
Packing the entire long distance track team into the Bug was always fun. I haven't been running, but plan to start again in 2005.
College
Started college at SEMO for the first 2 years. Worked in the theater as a shop assistant, earned the nickname PuP for being the youngest shop assistant ever. Became an RA my second year in Tower's West. Transfered to UM-Rolla in Fall of 93- pledged a frat and bailed before initiation- not a frat boy by any means. Worked my thru college at Poe's and the computer center, plus co-oping with McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Co (twice in St.Louis and one summer in Pax River Maryland-flight test!) Active member of the solar car team and numerous honor societies before graduating in Spring of '97. Stayed at UMR to get MS in Engineering Mechanics- fatigue & fracture. Stuck with solar car to see them win Sunrayce 99 - now I'm the mechanical inspector for the North American Rayces- aka Cally.
Workplace
Hey I'm breaking things for a living at Cat's Tec Center- fatigue and fracture! July 2004 I received my 5 year pin. my how time flies. I do not have any plans to leave Cat, most likely stay with the company until retirement.
