Brian's Story

Life Doesn't time fly when your having fun. After high school, I attended Stephen F. Austin and graduated with an Ag. Ed. degree in 1975. My career as an ag. teacher took me to two small schools - Tyronza, AR and Avinger, TX. Both of these schools had about 250 kids from K-12. Right after our 10 year reunion, I went to work as a county Extension agent in Brenham. Stayed there for nearly 4 years and then transfered to Navasota. In 1992, I transfered to Van Zandt County in Canton, TX. where I served as the county agent helping farmers and ranchers, advising homeowners about their landscapes (I don...Expand for more
't enjoy that) and coaching 4-H judging teams until I retired in October 2010. I married a ready made family in 1995. My wife and I live on a small farm south of Canton where I have a small herd of Santa Gertrudis cattle, graze some feeder heifers and work on the weekends as a cattle order buyer. My wife likes to scrapbook and fish. Our daughter graduated in with a nursing degree from UT-Tyler in December 2007 . She and her husband had a little girl in March, 2008. Being a granddad is wonderful. Our son lives in Terrell and is enjoying life. If you come to First Monday Trades Day, look me up.

Pretty much sums it up.
Went to cube the cows and found this new baby. Calf is out of a Strait Ranch cow and my PC Mr Muscle Man bull (Copperhead grandson).
Merry Christmas to all
A beautiful Christmas morning here at the Rafter C. I hope each of you have a blessed day.
May all your Santa's be Gertrudis. Merry Christmas.
Using ryegrass in a limit grazing situation reduces hay needs, improves nutrition and reduces costs. It takes a little effort to get them off the first couple of times.

Whoever came up with this meme is brilliant. My dear sweet wife left me standing alone in the cow lot and I wasn't even mad at her.
Late March heifer. Not the best picture but she has the depth and thickness people are looking for
Look at the update to the Todd Berry building. After 38 years, the building has been given a face-lift and an addition. This building was named after the man who brought community leaders from all over the county together i
