Brian's Story
Life
After graduating from Eastside High School in Greenville, SC, I returned to my Midwestern roots to attend college, and came back to the Southeast for graduate school at Georgia Tech. In graduate school, a highlight was to see Georgia Tech win the national title in football. After graduate school, I enjoyed living in the San Francisco Bay Area and working at the University of California, Berkeley. nd being a big fan of Stevie Ray Vaughan, I got to fulfill a long-time dream to move to Austin, Texas. In 1996, I joined the faculty at The University of Texas at Austin. I received tenure in 2000, so they are stuck with me. In 2003, I married a wonderful woman. Each summer, we visit the mountains of Lebanon to be with her family and escape the Texas heat. In 2006, our daughter was born. Game changer! I'm experiencing new worlds of ballet, gymnastics, and piano, and reliving old worlds of baseball, basketball and swimming.
