Brian's Story
I left Wisconsin Rapids right after graduation in May, 1983. Aside from brief visits to see my parents, I didn't go back until Christmas of 2015 (when my parents moved back there). They have since moved away again so I'm not sure when I'll ever get back.
I married late in life but it was worth every second of the wait. My lovely bride and I have a beautiful daughter who is about to finish college a semester early and will likely pursue a future in international affairs/foreign policy. Our son is a handsome young man in his last year of middle school. He also has autism. His struggles and the isolation our family experienced became the inspiration for my doctoral research.
The latest outgrowth of my research is a book entitled "Genocide Prophesy: Autism, the church, and a new (American) Reich. It was published earlier this year. It has sold out on Amazon twice and is about to run out again and best of all, 100% of my author royalties have been donated to ministries that serve people with intellectual or developmental disabilities, or those that protect...Expand for more
human rights.
After my years coaching college football, I thought that if I ever wrote a book, it would be about football. I don't know...maybe that'll be my next book. Funny how things work out in life.
I have very few memories of high school or living in WR. While technically, that's where my family was "from", I didn't live there until my dad retired from the Navy and getting there as late as I did, I found it hard to find a place to fit in. Ironically all the friends I can remember making there ended up joining the military like I did.
My nearly 30 years of military service gave me the chance to have a lot of great experiences, meet a lot of wonderful people, and see much of the world. It hasn't all been great, but I wouldn't change a thing.
Like I said earlier, I have few memories, and had few friends, but have received a few messages on this platform, and one or two reminded me of some very pleasant things that I had forgotten. If you remember me and would like to say hello, I'd love to hear from you. I hope you're all doing great!
