Brian's Story
Life
After graduating from Washington State University with a BA in Finance and Real Estate, I moved to Seattle and have been living in the Seattle area for a little over 9 years now. Man, I can't believe I've lived in one place this long!!! Of course, I couldn't completely abandon my Army brat ways and moved around within the city a bunch of times.
I started with a Branding/Marketing firm in downtown Seattle called Landor. They were based out of San Francisco and had won the account to do a bunch of Microsoft packaging, so they opened an office up here. It was a really fun bunch and I had a great time until they laid my ass off in the summer of 2001. That was a pretty common occurence around here at that time, so it wasn't too bad, but it still kind of sucked! Anyway, I bounced around at a few different ad agencies and did some contract work at Microsoft the last few years and have now settled at a company in Redmond called Voxgrafica. We specialize in retail packaging and displays and I work with a bunch of old colleagues from Landor, so it's a pretty cool place to work. We're pretty much a startup, so there's a special kind of cohesiveness among us that is pretty fun.
While I was bouncing from job to job, I was actually able to find a woman to put up with me. Her name is Jennifer and we were married on...Expand for more
September 20, 2003. She's the perfect wife and my best friend and I couldn't be happier. Since then, life has really been a whirlwind!!! Bought our first dog together and his name is Rusty. He's a beautiful golden retriever and might just be the best dog ever. A wife and a dog required the obligatory move to the suburbs, so we bought and built a house in Snoqualmie, WA and moved there in May of 2004. It's a beautiful community in the foothills of the Cascade mountains and we love it!!! Great views, great neighbors, and a great place to raise our daughter Lauren.
College
I originally attended the University of Colorado after graduating from high school, but that only lasted a short while. Funny how getting out of the house and the sweet winds of freedom will make a person do stupid things and act like a total jackass. I quickly righted the ship though and headed even further west to Washington State University. I got my shit together and busted my tail off there and was still able to graduate with the college Class of '96, so my wild times at CU didn't hurt me too badly. Anyway, college was great! Pullman is just a tiny little college town, but made great friends and was there for the Ryan Leaf era. Of course, they went to the Rose Bowl the year after I graduated, but I guess beggars can't be choosers.
