Hey mates,
My wife and I made a big decision last summer to leave public education after 26 years in the classroom and in administration. We left Walla Walla where I had been principal the last 4 years. I am the Dean of Students at Southern Virginia University. It is a private liberal arts university nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains near Lexington, where Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson are buried. I also teach the first two years of college German and am the head women's volleyball coach and head men's basketball coach. ould do this with all the kids out of the nest, but will miss Washington State and our only grandchild, Jessica. I have to buff up on my Civil War history, that's for sure. I guess this is just my version of a mid-life crisis, but it is better and cheaper than divorce or a new porsche. Hello to anyone who reads this. The east coast is way different than the state of Washington but we're loving the experience. We followed our oldest son out here who was Valedictorian last year as well as the first ESPN the magazine All- American basketball player from this small university.
