Brian's Story

Life I had a great time working with everyone at Ponderosa back in high school. College was a blast. I have met some really great people. I wish I would have been able to keep in touch with some people back home. I am very happy with life right now. Things are really starting to come together for me. School High school wasn't bad. I didn't quite fit in the best at Bay City Western coming from a small Lutheran school of about 60 kids to Western was a big change. However, I still had some really great friends during my time there that I wish I would have been able to keep contact with. If you're checking my profile then you're probably one of them. I never really thought any one of my teachers influenced me more than another, but that doesn't mean they were bad teachers. I'll always remember all the fun we had in Mrs. Keenan's choir class, always remember the great time I had working at Ponderosa, and always remember the last summer of fun we had in 1998 before I went off to college. I hope to someday get in touch with everybody that I haven't talked to since I left Bay City. Until that day, I hope you have a happy and enjoyable life. College I started college in the engineering field, but I switched to the education field. It has taken me longer than I would have liked, but I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology Education with a minor in Political Science Education from Western Michigan University in December 2004. I plan on working on my master's degree as soon...Expand for more
as I settle in and find a job. I don't know what I'll do after that, but I have thought about even going for a doctorate or eventually finishing my engineering degree as well. I guess I will see what opportunities will present themselves. Workplace I got my first job when I turned 16 and worked at Ponderosa Steakhouse on Euclid Avenue in Bay City. I really miss what a great time I had with everyone there. It was probably the best part of my life when I was in high school. After Ponderosa I went to WMU for college and worked at one of the cafeterias on campus. Eventually I recieved a promotion to a supervisor, and I kept this job every year I was in school for the 8 months that WMU was in session. During the first two years at college I would come home and work at Coca-Cola Bottling in Bay City. Eventually, when I stayed in Kalamazoo year round, I found work at Coca-Cola bottling in Kalamazoo during the summer. Finally, my last job was at Fedex Ground in Kalamazoo during my final stages at WMU when I was waiting to complete my student teaching requirements. I was just hired in July 2005 to my first teaching position at Pennfield High School on the north east side of Battle Creek. I will be teaching woodshop and drafting for the first couple years until the new high school is built. Then I will be switching the curriculum over to a generalized industrial technology program. I am looking forward to the great opportunities that I will have in the next few years. We'll see what the future holds.
