Brian's Story

I was shot in the right leg in 1978 (never mess with another man's wife.....just kidding). Actually what happened was the "William Tell" living in the apartment beneath mine was showing off his newest rifle acquisition while drinking beer and who knows what else, when he claims the gun went off. At that precise moment I had one monster of a craving for a cigarette. Yeah, I know all about it. They're going to kill me but who lives forever? Anyway I'd put the smokes on a table to my right before moving the footrest up to watch the football game on TV. The cig.s were just out of reach. I moved the footrest down which returned the chair to reaching distance, grabbed the pack, removed one, lit it, put the pack and lighter back on the twble when BAM! I was shot, shattering my femur bone. Well I healed, that idiot had less cash than commen sense (lawyers will appreciate the understanding), and thirty-some years later it has returned in the form of degenerating disks from years of walking on an "altered" leg, and a bad knee noy eligible for replacement. Boo-hoo and all that I know. Prior to my health challenges, I did have a successful career in sales, yet I was never really happy. Then while watching the news reporting about the terrorist attacks on New York and Virginia on September 11th 2001 and all the follow-up reporting, I watched as an Afghan woman was marched in fro...Expand for more
nt of a huge crowd of cheering barbarians, forced to her knees, and then shot in the back of her head for the crime of refusing to wear a burka. It bothered me. I am married with two wonderful daughters. That atrocity made me think about what I would've done had it been one of mine being marched to her death. That's where the motivation for my first book originated. "Switcher" literally wrote itself. As I drew toward the end I started feeling depressed. To me the characters in the book were real. It felt like some of my closest friends were dying. Then it just came to me; why? Why does it end here? It's my story. I have absolute "God-like" power in this world. Who says it has to end? And then I decided to make it a trilogy. The first two books, "Switcher" and "Annihilators" are available for purchase at Amazon and Barnes & Noble on-line (I'm not famous enough for B & N to stock the books on its shelves) as well as in E-book form for all readers (Ipad users please go to Smashwords with the adult filter turned to accept). The third book "Phoenix Rising" has been written but I'm not happy with it. That means I'm still working on it but I plan to compile my horror short stories into an anthology for release soon. And this is how I'm spending my time on disability. Please help an American shot by a mailman (he really was); buy my books and tell others about them. Thanks.
