Brian's Story

Life After graduating from UNH, I spent 22 years as an Air Force Instructor Pilot. Taught the equivalent of 'top gun' for many years (not like Tom Cruz--more like Tom Cruz's instructor), then flew large aircraft around the world many many times. Ran the largest single runway operation in the AF at Hill AFB, UT, just before retirement in 1992. Ya, I retired when I was 44. Have lived in Kelso, WA, ever since. I owned a Drivers Education company for a number of years, but limited my schedule so I had plenty of time to hunt, fish, hike, camp, or work on my absolutely beautiful property every single day. I often run some of the many large rivers nearby in my jet sled looking for salmon, steelhead, or sturgeon. If not that, we're off in the travel trailer--somewhere in the great Northwest. We usually spend two weeks a year in Junear fishing for large halibut. (My son caught a 155# fish last year. My biggest is only 55#.) In May, I spend 3 weeks in Keene, NH, visiting my family and hunting turkeys in NY, NH, and VT. ...Expand for more
Also fish some of the local lakes with friends. In Feb, we take a break from the drizzle here in WA and head to a little fishing village on the gulf side of Baja. I just got back from a couple of months hunting elk and deer in Utah, Oregon, and eastern WA. Started that trip on August 13. It's now early November and I must now wait til Thanksgiving day to start our late archery hunting season. Guess it's time to fish for a few weeks. One of my proudest moments in the last few years is when I won the National Archery Championships in 2000. I'm married to the neatest female on the face of the earth. She is a computer genius who puts multi-million-dollar computer deals together on an every day basis for Cerner Corporation, but still loves the out-of-doors as much as I do. When she isn't needed at work, she is off playing in the woods or on the rivers with me. My son is a computer engineer working in Vancouver, WA, and my daughter is an ecologist living in Darwin, Australia. Life is good. Naw, life is fabulous!
