Brian's Story

Thanks for all the visits. Enjoy all the pixs. Leaving this site due to cost/time.look me up on fb under mrfixit01 Subject:Classmates Connection. and I'll respond. My growing up years were all in Leeds, Ma. on Grove Ave. Have had some sort of income since I was 9, either mowing, selling cards, newspapers, TV Guides door to door, picking tobacco at Blauvelt's, counter help at FW Woolworth in Hamp, summers working with Tom Curran as Sealer of Weights & Measures. Later I mostly worked at the Florence Pro Brush plant while in Hamp High School so there were not many sidelights to my school years but I enjoyed gathering with Paul & the "Buds" before classes in the morning. Loved my Boy Scouts. There were 4 of us; Kerry, Brian, Debbie and Shelley. Haven't seen Kerry since '68. Debbie and I email\fb from time to time. We lost Shelley in an auto accident at age 19. Mom and Dad have been gone for a while now. After HS I attended Engineering Drafting at Smith Vocational until the draft called me in '68. Spent 4 years in the USAF from '68 to '72. Most of it in Thailand the rest all in the soute US. Married Debbie Butler in '74 (37 years in December '11). I have lived in Waxahachie, Texas since '73. Debbie is a native Texan. We have 3 great children, Tina is 35, Shaun is 29 and Aaron is 14 this year. Tina is employed near Dallas as is her ...Expand for more
husband. Shaun graduated Massage Therapy school & opened his own business, and works near Dallas also and Aaron is in the 8th grade next year (I homeschool him because of ADHD problems with the local school system). That means I will be 68 when he graduates high school!!! No grandchildren, none needed. Worked in radio broadcasting & production for about 7 years. Managed several businesses including Church's Chicken for 10 years, owned a drive-thru restaurant and an antique restoration business. Work for a school district now. Probably will retire here. Shop on ebay a lot! Looking for that perfect Home Business (you know - make a lot of money with no outlay)! Finally went back to college in 2003 at age 55 and got a degree in business a few years ago. Been promising to do that since I quit college back in '73. Was the oldest or second oldest in all my classes. One lady had me beat at age 68. Didn't help my income any but proved to my kids (and myself) that it could be done. All I'm striving for now is to reach retirement so I can do the things I really like. I love working in the yard...have a container garden this year, fixing things, garage sale shopping, surfing the net, writing my memoirs (yeah) and just spending time with my family, getting Aaron through school. Still love 50's/60's DooWop music and early 70's rock'n'roll.
