Brook's Story
After graduating I moved to Toronto with my high school boyfriend and started Centennial College. I was taking Child and Youth Worker. I started working at The Home Depot the spring of my first year and decided that I enjoyed working more than college so I quit school. I ended up moving from Toronto to Kingston in December 1999 with the same boyfriend as his family was from that area. I transferred to The Home Depot in Kingston and worked there until July 2001. By then I was no longer involved with my old boyfriend and had met someone new. Gregg Moore. I also discovered I was pregnant September 2001 with my first son and ended up moving back to Peterborough to be closer to my family. ebruary 2002. Our first son Evan was born in May 2002. I have been living in Peterborough since 2002, here and there. I began working at the numerous call centres around Ptbo. as there is not that much else for a girl who quit college. I started at ICT January 2004 and moved across the street to MCCI nine months later. That Boxing Day, Gregg and I discovered that I was pregnant again, with our son Dylan, who was born August 2005. I enjoyed my year long maternity leave but did return to work. In May 2008 I decided that I had had enough of call centres and I quit. I was able to return to school at Fleming and I am now a certified Hospital Ward Secretary/Transcriptionist/Medical Office Assistant. However, as of now (July 2009) I am unemployed, but glad to be as I finally am having a chance to spend time with my boys at home.
