Brooke's Story
School
so, as for chs...i remember leaving stu-co to go to thrifty's with my sister and friends for ice cream. that was always fun (when we were in school together).
i also remember letting my brother drive to lunch and not returning. he and alex got in an accident. the bad part was---he didn't have his driver's license yet. bummer for us. i think that we were grounded for that.
what else? i remember giving up sophomore basketball and tennis to do the school musical. really...i have no talent in music...what was i thinking?
and, i remember cheating in chemistry with steve h. i still carry the guilt today. not only that, i believe steve and i used to gamble at the back of the classroom. if i'm not mistaken, i was up once for 20 bucks. then he said double or nothing. i wound up with 0. that's what i get for gambling :)
i also remember trying to get emily out of chemistry one day by lying to her teacher...don't recall the guy's name. anyhow, i told the teacher my grandpa died. how horrible is that? he let her out, but he made us talk in the hall. i think that we wanted to go for ice cream.
my sister used to call the school attendance for me to get me out of class. it worked well. i would then get to go to lunch with her and her girlfriends (now she was in college). twas great fun! plus, i don't believe i was fond of my 5th hour :)
otherwise, i was ...Expand for more
quite an angel...maybe a talkative one, but still an angel :)
College
My first year was at NAU where I cleaned toilets and learned how to manage hotels and restaurants...It was a great time, but I missed the heat. So, my last 3 and 1/2 years were at ASU. I was a decent student, but I had more fun going to breakfast with friends. I was usually 10-15 minutes late to each class, but I had one professor that was even later then I was. That was great! ASU has too many graduate school teachers and not enough professors. I would say that I hear East Campus is great for Education. I really had fun with my internships...I had one at CHS and 3 at AJHS. Then, I taught at AJHS for 3 years following graduation. I forgot how crazy we were in Jr. High, but I loved every minute! I was sad to leave my job, but I wouldn't trade Poland for it. All in college and post has been fun!
Workplace
i was first a teacher for students with learning disabilites at ajhs in chandler. i cried every day after class, but my favorite teaching stories came from them! then i taught for 2 years american government and language arts. i used to teach about life behind the iron curtain;now i'm here. i know, no curtain. but you couldn't convince me of that when it was in the 40s and they didn't turn on our heat. now i am in poland working with the homeless. sometimes i prefer those crazy teenagers...
