Bruce's Story
August 2009 I will begin my 26th year of Educating High School students at Dillard Center for the Arts in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. After graduating from the Theatre Department at Michigan State University, I taught one year at Interlochen before my blood was too frozen to stay in Michigan any longer.
I taught Theatrical Set Design and Lighting from 1884 to 1998 when I took over as Artistic Director for the Music, Dance, Theatre and Visual Arts Programs. I supervised the revisions of the fine arts curriculum and the design and construction of our new 125,000 square foot performing and visual arts facility.
Additionally, I serve on several local Arts Education Commissions and I am the Lighting Designer for 3 professional dance companies. With them I have had the opportunity to travel across the US and Mexico...but my S...Expand for more

I am looking forward to 2014 when I will be able to retire from education and begin working my lighting design career full-time.
In 2008 I visited Costa Rica for vacation...I loved swimming a beautiful waterfall near the Arenal Volcano until a friend of mine snapped a photo of me...dam I was FAT! Since then I have lost almost 40 pounds. I used my AARP card to get a discount on a gym membership and contracted a fantastic personal trainer...I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks afterall. I feel great and I think I am looking better each day.
I lost my mom last summer to a long battle with cancer...22 years in one form or another. She was the strongest women I have ever known and I miss her something fierce.
