Military
I joined in 1965 and went to Great Lakes for boot camp. In September of that year was assigned to the USS. Henrico APA-45 until about June of 1968 when we went to Bremerton, WA and decommissioned her.
During my time aboard the Henrico our amphibious group Phibron 1 spent most of it's time in South East Asia putting our Marines on the beaches (Vietnam) there and then bringing our dead home for burial. r decommissioning I was reasigned to Beach Master Unit-1 in Coronado, CA and was there until I got out of the Navy in December of 1969 as a soul surviving son with an honorable discharge.
My time in the Navy was a very stressful one but something I am very proud of and if I had it to do over again wouldn't change a thing except getting out early and staying for my full 19 & 6 before getting my discharge. I made a lot of friends in the Navy aboard ship and really enjoyed the life. It was 4 very good years for me!!!! :-)
