Bruce's Story
Bruce D. Davis - Boonton High School â73, Wilkes College â77 - As a midfielder during his playing career, Bruce Davis earned both all-state and All-America honors. A graduate of Boonton High School in 1973, Davis was named first-team all-state in 1972 and 1973 and was a high-school All-America selection in 1973. He was named the Maplewood Lacrosse Clubâs "Outstanding High School Opponentâ in 1972, and served as captain of the squad during his senior season in 1973. In 1973, Davis helped BHS to the New Jersey State Championship. Davis went on to compete at Wilkes College, earning all-conference honors in the Middle Atlantic Conference during all four years of competition. ence championship title. Davis was the Colonels team captain in 1977 and 1978, and was named the squadâs Most Valuable Player during those same years. Davis returned to his alma mater as an assistant coach from 1980-1992, and also had brief stints as the Boonton head coach in 1984 and 1999-2000. At Boonton, he helped guide the squad to the 1980 Fitch Division title and the 1991 Gibbs Division title. He also served as the head coach at Morris Catholic in 1994 in itsâ inaugural season. A teacher and department supervisor at Boonton High School, Davis was honored as a selection to Whoâs Who in American Teachers. He was the Rizk Division Coach of the Year in 2001 and 2002 and guided the Bombers to an undefeated season in 2002.Presently is a teacher at Millburn High School and coaches freshman girl's lacrosse..
