Bruce's Story
Since leaving Rainier Beach in 1970:
Married twice and have been with Judi, my second wife, for about 29 years. I don't think she's every fully forgiven me for taking her away from the sunny skies of Phoenix, but she's adjusted to the Seattle area and admits it would be hard to leave now.
As to work and travel, I spent ten years in the Navy on nuclear submarines, followed by ten years working at a commercial nuclear power plant in Arizona. After that, several years doing consulting work in Arizona and at the Hanford nuclear facility in Washington. A few years in between of part-time hobby work doing dog training. ime in the consulting field the last several years. Since 1970 I've lived in Virginia (8 years), Maryland (1 year), New York (1 year), Utah (2 years), Arizona (16 years) and Washington (14 years). I also spent several months in Illinois, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and shorter periods in a few other states. In my time with the Navy I did a literal "trip around the world" (half by submarine and half by air) just before getting out and have visited several countries between military and civilian life.
After becoming involved with Irish Traditional Music I spent a short time in Ireland and now play in informal Irish Music "sessions" around the Seattle area.
