Bruce's Story

I'm a "jack of all trades". I became a professional modern ballet dancer in New York City. I studied with Rudolf Nuriev, Mikael Barishnikoff and Ivan Nagy. I've danced with Suzanne Farrell exclusively. I also studied at The New York City Center Ballet and The Twyla Tharp Modern Dance Company. I started my ballet career first studying basic ballet with the great Anatol Jakowsky of the Kirov Ballet School from 1917. His mentor was also the great Nijinsky. I had three years of training before a scout from the San Francisco Ballet Company grabbed me. He told me to study with the best. The dance scholarship had me dance with the Twyla Tharp Modern Dance Company only on the East Coast. Maurice Bejart, Ballet of the 20th Century, a ballet company from Belgium had me as a guest dancer. In 1972 I competed in the Pan American Games in Venezuela. My career in proffesional ballet spanned 6 years. In the California Renaissance Faires - both at Black Point, Novato and Agura Valley, Los Angeles, I was the Harlequin that opened The Faire in both the North and Southern sites. I've met at The Faire some interesting people, like - Rossana Arquette, David and Robert Carradine, Robert Plant of the legendary Led Zeppelin, Jack Nicholson, Ridley Scott film director of ALIEN amongst other Academy Award winners George Lucas another great director of our times was meeting with Akira Kurosawa, a famous movie director from Japan. From 1974 to 1982, I worked with the famous rock n' roll impresario Bill Graham, as a staff photographer and Graphic Designer. I was well-known for the Pa...Expand for more
ul McCartney 'Wings Over America' artwork and design. I was the lead photographer for all of The Day on the Green' concerts. I worked as an ElectroAcuTherapist for The 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. From 1978 - 1984 I worked as one of the Art Directors for developing the ATT word mark. and identity systems for Landor and Associates - #1 design firm in the world; at the time with 14 satellite offices around the world. In 1999 I attended The Culinary Institute of America and graduated as a chef in 2000. From 2000 - 2010 worked in Los Angeles, for two Michelin star restaurants. La Dolce Vita (Italian), Mise en Place (French). I also worked in San Francisco and in Jack London Square for Victoria Station, Thomas Lord's and Quinn's Lighthouse. From 1984 to 1986 I was a member of the 'glam' fusion/rock group 'Stimmung' playing my 1962 Flying V Gibson. Now, I just write cookbooks, like, "Love At First Bite" I'm almost through with the book - it's about 600 pages long! I'm trying to cut it down to three volumes of approximately 200 pages long. I've never attempted anything like this - this is exciting! I have a restaurant idea for Fairfield and I'm in preliminary stages of planning but it's put on hold due to the Covid 19 pandemic. I'm sorry that I talked you're ear off. If I had my life to live over again - I would, in a heartbeat. I live with a stroke. I'm a stroke victim. I'm hemiplescic- half my body works and the other half doesn't. I still can move around and talk. Thank you for perusing my quick curriculum vitae. Take care, stay safe.
