Bryan's Story

Hello everyone! After High School I attended Jeffco for two years while learning to fly at Weiss Airport in Fenton - before it was bulldozed. I transferred from there to CMSU where I finished up my Bachelor's along with my Private Pilot, Instrument, Commercial, Multi-engine, Certified Flight Instructor (CFI), CFI-Instrument and Multi-engine - Instrument. I then attended Parks College of Saint Louis University and pursued an Airframe and Engine Mechanic license (A&P) and in later years attaining an (IA) Inspection Authorization. From there I flight instructed for several years in the STL area. Then I flew cargo for several years in the STL area for GlaxoSmithKline and once I built up enough flight time I attained an (ATP) Airline Transport Pilot certificate. I started flying corporate in 1996. Moved several times since then, going to Indianapolis, IN - flew for the inventor of voice mail; Kalamzoo, MI - flew for one of the co-founders of UpJohn pharmaceuticals; and finally ending up in Columbus, OH in 1999. I fly for a large homebuilder, M/I Homes, and function as a Captain and Director of Maintenance on a Challenger 604 and a Hawker 850 XP manufactured by Bombardier Aerospace and HawkerBeechcraft respectively. I was employed with M/I Homes for 10 years. UPDATE: M/I Homes closed their flight department in June of 2009. I am now employed by The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company as a Corporate Pilot as of September 2009. I fly Falcon 900 and 50 aircraft for the company. In re...Expand for more
cent years I completed a Masters in Aeronautical Science with specializations in management and operations through (ERAU) Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Completed the Corporate Aviation Managment Certificate (CAMC) through Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in February 2009 which prepares applicants for the CAM (Certified Aviation Manager) exam. Passed the CAM exam in June 2009. I currently have more than 7000 hours in various types of aircraft. A little about me personally, I am married to a wonderful wife (Jen) and have three wonderful children: Kayelyn, Drew and Brooke; 10, 8 and 5 respectively. Jen works as a nurse here in Columbus at Childrens Hospital and is continuing her education to become a Nurse Practitioner. So between work and activities with the kids we stay fairly busy. I enjoy building and flying RC aircraft when I can get away for a couple of hours. I also enjoy working in the yard and working on various projects in the garage. I also really enjoy bicycling with the family on various converted rails-to-trails routes. We also have a pop-up camper which we utilize from time to time. If anyone wants to get in touch with me please email me at [Bryan(dot)Berkbigler(at)Scotts(dot)com] or facebook(dot)com. I really don't check this site all that often and am currently not a member of the site so I cannot view messages on this site. My email address is written as such because classmates won't let me save an email address in the standard format.
