Bryan's Story
Life
No pets. No kids at home. My daughter has a BS in Medical Technology (Sum Cum Laud) and a Masters in Science. Number one in the class for both. 4.0 for the Masters. Goes to show that you can overcome genes. One grand son. Just turned 15 (June 3, 2013)
My daughter became a widow on Jan 18, 2010. Phil was 50 years, 2 months, and 25 days old at the time of death.
I retired in 1995 from the FAA. I no longer frame stuff repair pictures (in Photoshop CS4) and print on either my Epson 2200 or 9800 actually, I want to retire from that so, with the help of the state recalling my tax number, I did. I drive an old 2003 Suburban as my personal salute to those who don't like SUVs. :o)
I worked almost ten years at Texas Electric after leaving high school. Ken Curry, Hugh Brown, Joe Bill Patton, Whit Plummer, Henry Buchanan, Richard Hoyler, Raymond "Cotton" Ellis, and other Poly boys worked there also. I left in 1963 to begin flying for a living. First instructing at Ft Wolters (Mineral Wells) Lived in Forest Hills, Weatherford, and then moved to Alabama in...Expand for more
1965 instructing helicopter instrument flying in the UH-1. In 1966 I ferried UH-1's for the army from Bell to California, North Carolina, and Kansas. At the end of 1966 I went back to Alabama Instructing some more in UH-1 and TH-13T aircraft. Started with Page as a test pilot in the Huey then went to work as a DAC (Department of the Army Civilian) instructing "contact" in the Huey and instruments in the TH-13T. In 1970 there was a RIF. I went to Atlanta, GA with the FAA in 1970. Got a DC-3 type rating at Griffin GA. In 1972 I moved back to Texas (San Antonio). In 1986 I transferred to the Ft Worth FAA Regional Office and lived in Arlington, where I live now.
I always wanted the fun jobs and would jeopardize my career for a good one line zinger. I zinged my bosses too often so I never got the big jobs (which I really didn't want or I would have kept my mouth shut. The boss doesn't want to know what a stupid thing he just did. Fun fun fun mixed with more than my share of accident and violation investigations. I even got to ramp check Alan Sheppard.
