From the other side of 50...
It has been over three decades, a former marriage, three kids, and four countries since I walked those hallowed halls of learning that last time. I've been back two or three times to visit, but not for some time. Yet, some of the memories of those days are as fresh as if they happened yesterday, as if I were a teenager again. Port Charlotte helped form who I would become as an adult. I loved my friends, and can't imagine life without the memories...especially band. I attended the 10 year reunion, and I didn't recognize some people, some I had been close to I didn't say much to, and others I barely talked with when I school I conversed with easily. Life changes, but the feelings about my time at PCHS are ...Expand for more
something that have not. Some say you don't know how good something is until it is gone. Not true in my case. I knew while at PCHS it was a very special time, and the years since have shown this to be true.
I've decided to leave the above as it is as it reflected an important time in my life. I'm now 54 and continue to be thankful for the Pirate years. My mom and I moved to Port Charlotte in 1980 and I found a new home and many new friends in Port Charlotte. I attended the class reunions of 84,85 and 86 in July of 2009 and while we'd changed, it was a great weekend and I'll always be thankful to God for taking mom and I to Port Charlotte in the early 1980s. My life is so different now, but I'm forever fond of those years, and my friends.
