Bud's Story
I remember McCluer as a great part of my life. I probably spent too much time in sports (Cross Country, Swimming and Track) and not enough time getting to know more people in our class. That is probably my biggest regret
Once I graduated, I really spent very little time in St Louis. Went to Mizzou for two years, I am a Kappa Sig and was on the swimming team. After two years, I volulanteered for the Marine Corps, and after 3 years in The Corps and two tours in Nam, I returned to Mizzou on the GI bill. I received two bachelor degrees, one in Journalism and the second in Business, which prepared me for the Shoe Business???? where I have been for apx 35 years, but it has been a fun ride. I have been to China apx. 50 times but also worked in many other parts of the World including, S America, Europe, Africa and even Cuba, (Had to sneak in and out of there)....Expand for more
I was part of a team that built the Nine West Shoe Co.
Today, I am with Liz Claiborne Shoe Co., living in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fl, because our Sr Partner lives here and owns the Jacksonvill Jaguars. Jags are great, but Mizzou is my first love.
I have been married for 30 + years to a great gal and friend. We have two Westies and have had several other great Westies over the past years.
I continue to Jog (although its getting ugly) but at least I can still do it. My wife beats me in golf. I am going to retire this June 1, 08 and plan to stay between here and our home in Naples, Fl, play golf and travel. I am looking forward to making a solo two week trip back to Vietnam in October.
I know there are a lot of St Louis people that have homes in Southwest Florida. Pls let me know if you are ever in the area.
