Burdell's Story
I Married first wife Peggy Coleman in 1963. We have four wonderful children. I was inducted into the Army in 1965 with only my student teaching remaining before receiving a bachelors degree. I trained in Army aviation, and served in an assault helicopter company in Vietnam for a year before being selected as one of five Department of the Army Combat Artists serving in Vietnam. We functioned as combat photographers while in Vietnam, and did our paintings from our photographic sources later in Hawaii. ng and art history. I taught art, mostly painting, and foreign language at the high School and college level for thirty years.
After 36 years of marriage, and having four great children, Peggy and I were divorced in 1998. I still respect and admire Peggy for her many accomplishments and integrity. In 2000 I married Virginia Soret Rowland, a native of Havana, Cuba, who grew up in Coral Gables, Florida and Ann Arbor,Michigan. We enjoy our beach home on Estero Island, Fort Myers Beach, Florida during breaks away from our home in Gold Canyon, Arizona. I am currently represented by 55 Main Gallery in Bisbee, Arizona.
I have fond memories of Samohi, and always love to hear from friends and classmates.
