Byron's Story
Life
After school, I went to Gannon University. After graduating from Gannon, I joined the army and went through Officers Candidate school. My first duty assignment was at Fort Stewart where I met my wife. After Stewart, we went to Germany for three years. I was then reassigned to Fort Bragg where I left the army and moved to Bedford, Virginia to be a teacher. After teaching for a few years, I decided to work for the Army again as a civilian education counselor. I worked in Fort Pickett, Virginia before deploying to Kosovo. be called back to Active Duty for the Global War on Terrorism. I deployed to Afghanistan and spent 12 months there in the town of Herat and then in bagram Airbase running Civil Affairs projects. I built schools and medical clinics. Upon retunring to the Pentagon, I was asked to build three eduction centers in Afghanistan for the Soldiers. After spending more than 18 months in Afghanistan, I was assigned to run education centers in Hanau, Germany. I spent three years there and now do the same thing in the Netherlands. I am patiently awaiting for my youngest son to graduate from High School so I can do more traveling with my wife and finishing see all those sites in Europe that I haven't been to yet.
