After leaving Louise, in 1956, we moved to Port Lavaca, where my dad went to work for Alcoa. During the last year in High School, I worked part time for Auto Parts and Machine Company and after graduation, worked full time for them for a while. It was in Port Lavaca, that I first met my future wife, Caroline. At the time she was only 11 years old, and I had no idea that we would ever get married. I moved to the Houston area, and went to work for Hughes Tool where I started out as a machine operator. After about 6 months, I was promoted to supervisor, then shift foreman, shop forman and finally production manager. It was in the role of production manager that I got to travel for the company.
