Chris's Story
Life
I married my roommates sister 51 weeks after we had met on a blind date. Last September we celebrated our 35th anniversary. We moved to Phoenix to teach in the Washington Elementary Dist. Claudia taught 1 year then retired to have our sons,Todd, and Brian.
Claudia went back into teaching in 1983.and will retire after2004-2005 school year .
I retired in 2001 after 29 years of 1st , 2nd, and 3rd graders.I truly loved teaching and the kids were great but as the Bob Dylan song says "The Times They Are A Changin" The kids were changing and the parents were getting hard to deal with. I know I don't know everything but too many parents were making lame excuses for their child's behavior or lack of academic effort.Also because of No Child's Behind Left Behind the pressure to get more and m...Expand for more
ore out of their minds was the new catch phrase of the school district and for a vast majority of the kids there wasn't any more room for anything else For the last 4 years I have been a 1:1 aide to a Downs Syndrom and an autistis boy at a junior high. I also retired from the Fire and Safety Crew at Phoenix International Raceway after 19 years.
We sold our house in Phoenix and moved into our house 6 miles south of Prescott. Our days are now filled with helping at the hospital,going to the gym,working in our Granddaughter's classroom, teaching Sunday school, and being Coach B.T.Whistle on Magic 99.1 2 minutes every Tuesday.
