C.J.'s Story
Life
- I'm happily domesticated now - married to a wonderful woman (Angela) and father to two little girls, Kaleigh (b. in 2000) and Mackenzie (b. in 2002). We are living in Lawrenceville, GA - which is on the northern edge of metro Atlanta, where I am currently laboring through graduate studies in pursuit of a PhD from Georgia Tech.
School
Biggest crushes and fondest memories?
- Henry David Thoreau says: "Make the most of your regrets....To regret deeply is to live afresh."
College
Best college roommates?
- Erik Hindmarsh - my best roommate, my best friend, and my best man. Glad we still stay in touch.
- Jeff Simmons - I tell you, this is one helluva guy. The kind of moral character and genuine 'good-guy' attributes every man should attempt to emulate. I read in the USAFA Checkpoints about Jeff's growing family - congrats! Naming his son C.J. had to be a coincidence, though... :)
Workplace
Workplace history... let's see:
1. 2 months as a bus-boy in Ambros Ling's family-owned Chinese restaurant in Griffin
2. 6 months as a closer at the prestigious RacquetHause sports club
3. 3 months flippin' chicken at Chik-Fil-A with my best friend Lauren Castiglione
4. Join the Air Force and go to boot camp at the US Air Force Acade...Expand for more
my - stay in the military for 6 years.
5. Work my way through higher education as a web developer and auditor, doing 50 hours a week between the two while taking full course loads for another 2 years in Daytona Beach, FL.
6. Now I work for the Human Systems Engineering Branch of the GT Research Institute (GTRI) - an applied research company affiliated with GA Tech. My work covers a broad spectrum of multi-discipline activities related to the design, development, testing and evaluation of the interactions of humans with their machines.
Military
Colorado Springs does indeed look much better in the rear-view mirror. Lackland AFB was hot, but San Antonio was an awesome town to be stationed in. Sheppard AFB in Witchita Falls Texas was dull except for the occasional weekend trot to Dallas for nights of debauchery. McGuire AFB in New Jersey was the armpit of America, which made Cannon AFB in Clovis New Mexico the rectal orifice (fitting, since it smelled so heavily of cow dung just about EVERY DAY). Thank God the people were so very awesome - sometimes we almost forgot we were in the southwestern desert, surrounded on all sides by 100 miles of wasteland filled with the stench of cattle...that is, until we opened the door and stepped outside.
