Christopher's Story

I went to University of Toledo after graduating from DeVilbiss and studied engineering. I started working at Meilink Steel Safe Company while still attending TU (now known as UT) as a draftsman. Meilink had a division called TV Bank Equipment (later: Meilink Bank Equipment) that needed help with drafting, design and engineering. I was "loaned" to them". They liked what I did for them enough that I became a full time employee doing engineering and design work. Last title there was Project Engineer. Balancing full time school and full time employment was a struggle and things were booming at the Company, so I decided to take some time off from the University and then go finish when things slowed down. For various reasons I, regretfully, never went back to finish out my degree. I bought a house in Point Place ("The Best Place Anyplace") right on Maumee Bay. Enjoyed boating, fishing, etc. I got married to a girl from near Lima OH. Pauline, (Polly) Treglia (Lafayette Jackson High School (Allen East)). Later on due to changes in the management at Meilink Bank Equipment, I saw that my future there was not as I was hoping it would be and there was a constant battle with the City of Toledo that waterfront residents of Point Place were having about the City's wish to take possession of the waterfront there. My father-in-law owned an ...Expand for more
concrete construction company in Lima OH and had been for some time, offering me a piece of the company if I would come work for him along with his 2 sons. I decided to take him up on it and moved to Lima. Things worked out pretty well and I eventually ended up as president of the company right about the time that the economy took a dive. After struggling to keep things profitable for a few years, I finally gave up and retired. I am now living on a small farm near Lima OH in an underground house that I designed and built. I am now trying to finish up many of the things that I put off over the years (including finishing the house). I had the misplaced presumption that "work" trumped everything and therefore came first. Some things are easier now, but many others are more difficult with age taking its toll. I have 2 sons and 1 daughter. All are happily married and living in OH still. I have 5 grandchildren; 2 boys and 3 girls. I fondly remember my High School years and my many dear friends and hope that you are all doing well for the rest of your lives. As of 2016, there are a number of old friends that are gone, but I hope that we meet again. I am a believer in God and his only begotten Son, Jesus Christ and truly believe that we are living in the "end times" and will quite likely be witnesses to the return of the Messiah.
