Calvin's Story
Bachelor of Arts degree in Oriental Studies from the University of Arizona. Joined the U.S. Navy. Lived in Japan for two years. Juris Doctor degree from Arizona State University. Partner in Venable, Rice, Lee and Capra in Phoenix(1975 to 1980). Pro bono representation of gays and lesbians, nuclear power plant protesters, the developmentally disabled, the Sierra Club, Auduban Society, prisoners, and peace activists, supported by criminal defense and personal injury. Solo law practice in Glenwood Springs, Colorado(1981 to 2012), serving the Aspen, Carbondale, Glenwood Springs, and Vail area. Emphasis on criminal defense, divorce and real estate, as well as representing gays and lesbians, and the developmentally disabled. Climbed all 54 of the 14,000 foot mountains in Colorado. Started creating art in 2001 in ink, watercolor, oil, and charcoal. Represented by galleries in Telluride, Frisco, Aspen, Denver, Glenwood Springs, and Carbondale. Organizer and spokesperson for the Roaring Fork Peace Coalition, an anti-war group opposed to invading Iraq. Organizer and spokesperson for the Roaring Crystal Alliance, a grassroots environmental group opposed to massive development projects and promoting clean air, affordable housing and sustainable planning. Zambia in May, 2008 for five weeks to teach art and English to AID's orphans. Art studio in Denver(March 2012 to present). Accept law cases in Aspen, Carbondale, Glenwood Springs and Denver if the matter is serious and interesting.
