Life I have one daughter who will be 16 in 2005. She was diagnosed 3 years ago with Cystic Fibrosis. It has been a harrowing three years. But, we are strong and we will survive this. I didn't know anything about the disease until she was diagnosed, and didn't know that 1 in 20 ashkenazi jews are carriers of this disease. Also, 1 in 25 caucasians are carriers as well. If you have diabetes in your families, stomach problems, asthma, or breathing problems, you need to find out if you are a carrier, or if you children are carriers of this recessive genetic disease. It is far better to know what you are fighting, than to be fighting blind.
