Cammy's Story
After thirty years of Teamster-type work the tedium paid off and now have retired. My husband is also retired and in October, 2008 we moved to our retirement home in Cle Elum, WA with a view of the Stuart Range. I do a lot of volunteer work here in the Kittitas Valley where the need is really taking me by surprise. My two sons are in their late 30s and between them have supplied me with six grandchildren, including Matthew, born October 13, 2008. I have some accomplishments in my career for womens rights that are a highlight, since even though I wouldn't have chosen to work all those years at Associated Grocers I tried to bloom where I was planted. I left in March, 2008 and didn't look back. One of my greatest passions is traveling, and have traveled all over the United States (favorite places--Florida and the national parks in sout...Expand for more
hern Utah), Canada, Europe (favorite--Italy--would live there if it were solely up to me), including Croatia, the U.K., and Australia. I've been married since 1993 to the police officer who answered the 911 call I made when I returned home to find my home vandalized. (My former husband died mysteriously many years after we divorced--a very sad and weird feeling when the ex dies!) Both of my parents are gone :( but the hardest yet was losing my sister, Myra (Tyee class of '72), June 25, 2009 to cancer only two weeks after being diagnosed. Sometimes I miss her so much it takes my breath away, but remaining sister, Kate Rachelle (Tyee class of '78)pulls me through. I've stayed in touch with a couple of high school girlfriends (Cheryl Bell and Marsha Michaelson) all these years and we often talk about the years spent at Chinook and Tyee.
