Candace's Story
Life
Well, what can one say that will sum up twenty-five years in a few words? I have been to the mountain top...(just kidding)Seriously though, since graduating I have been married, divorced, and now married again, and this time for good. I have finally found Mr. Right, so there is hope for us all! I have three beautiful daughters, one fabulous granddaughter. As far as careers go, after a lot of soul searching and career changes (hairdresser, sign language interpreter) I finally found my true passion and have settled into the title of "Ms. Candace". Yes, I know, big shocker. Who would have ever guessed? Me, a school teacher. I taught for the Milwaukee Public School's for the last 7 years then moved to Richmond Hill, GA (for those of you who don't think Stepford exists, I am here to tell you it does) and taught for DoDea (department of defense) on Fort Stewart. My husband is an officer in the U.S. Army and at the time that was where he was stationed. He is now stationed at Fort Polk, LA where poverty is high and jobs are scarce and since we still own a home her in Milwaukee...Expand for more
, I moved back here in WI and once again I am teaching for MPS.
School
I loved Tech but attended South Division my senior year because I only needed 1 credit and Tech would not allow me to attend for only 1 class. I would have to take a shop if I wanted to stay there. Hey, what would you do? School all day at Tech or school for 3 hours(that was the minimum) at South? I think I have made my point. I do however, think of myself as a Techite. (It was pretty hard to feel at home at South since I was only there for a brief time)
College
I am an Alverno Woman...enough said!
Workplace
I worked as a cosmetologist on and off for 12 years. It helped put me through school several times while I tried my hand at different professional careers until I finally found my nitch. I am now a school teacher where my preference is kindergarten.(I love the babies)In Wisconsin I was very active in the teacher's union, serving on several committees and holding elected positions at both the local and state levels. I hope to participate in WEAC once again now that I am back in WI.
