Candi's Story
Well I was a troubled teen, living with my single mom and grandfather close to BHS. I transferred to BHS from North High my sophmore year. My mother was a teacher and an alcoholic so my home was very dysfunctional and I followed the path of pain in many arenas. If drugs had been readily available for the average kid I probably would have taken them but thank God I didn't fall into that place. I was just one of the kids looking for relevancy and acceptance and looking for the love of a father in all the wrong places. Paid a high price for those painful years. But in 1965 I met a wonderful man 12 years my senior and kind and loving and he asked me to marry him and I did and we have had a wonderful 47 years,so far, two wonderful daughters Stacy & Krissy and now 5 wonderful grandchildren and 2 awesome sons-in-laws. God chased after me and in 1971 I became a Christ follower and my life took a complete turnaround. I am now an ordained minister and teach, speak, etc in a lot of places and nations and a published author of 1 book "Take Back the Night" and working ...Expand for more
on another.
Don and I have lived in Fresno 2.5 years, Madera 18 years and Oakhurst just below Yosemite National Park 27 years.
My biggest surprise is being a minister and speaker. I have had my dream home as well as being a multi millionaire, its ok, but lots of responsibility.
I have learned from my girls that they came first and now me. I was an only child and all the stuff that goes with that.
I don't know what happened to Jim Bernard after about 1968.
I would do a lot of things differently, make different choices, good choices, made sooooo many bad ones.
If I won $100 million, I'd give a lot of it to feed people, expand the kingdom of God, then spend the rest on living, my family and my community.
My current age is 67. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be dead or at least very old. I was so completely wrong.
In 10 years, I hope to be still ministering around the world. I'm going to get there by faith.
probably Diana Romine who went to EB connected with her about a year ago, she's still in Bakersfield, haven't heard from her for a while.
