I am living in Houston where my mother had moved. She had graduated from C.W. Post and then fought the battle teaching...every year she would be laid off in June and rehired in Sept. to start another grade level. After 5 years and 5 different elementary grade levels, she took a job working for the New York Times. That occurred during the mid 70's. I meandered around Europe, Israel, and the USA between the military, personal travel and education during a 12 year period and ended up in Colorado. I met my hubby of 20 years when I was 32... Jerry San Pietro, and shortly after his retirement, at 40...we adopted 2 children. One is now 10, Rachael, and my oldest Regina, will be 12 in January...both girls from different couples. We received Gina as a newborn in 1997 and Rae, 1 day old in Aug 1998. We have ongoing contact with both "birth families" which has been wonderful for my daughters. Each have additional "birth siblings" that they are getting to know. Jerry was adopted also so conversation and correspondence between "birth parents and adoptive parents" have become the norm so to speak in my household. We get together, send emails, have phone conversations etc. I had worked as a counselor / RN relegated to the addiction and psychiatric realm for a long time. Also did a bit with Hospice and Labor and Delivery. Even worked in a prison for a year in Co. which was a trip. I have been teaching high school students for the past 5 years...sophomores, juniors and seniors...Expand for more
